Go to IMDB to look 'em up.

1/18/08

Cloverfield

JJ Abrams and giant monsters done Blair Witch style!

1/25/08

Be Kind, Rewind

Jack Black doing movie impersonations, might do well, looks kinda funny, we'll see

Rambo

Violence and steroids do indeed mix… A killer looking pic

2/14/08

Jumper

Anakin and Mace Windu battle it out in the near future this time…in a war of teleporters!

2/15/08

Diary of the Dead

Won't be big, but might be cool.  Romero doing what JJ is doing with Cloverfield, only a kind of reboot of the Dead franchise.  It probably only cost 24 bucks to make, so it should be profitable anyhooz…

Spiderwick Chronicles

Yet another fantasy pic, lots of cameos by big stars, we'll see…

2/29/08

Semi-Pro

Will Ferrell, filthy R-rated, disgusting, foul mouthed… guaranteed winner.

3/1/08

10,000 BC

Buzz on this one isn't so hot, but even with no stars, it could still do some mean box office with all the great effects.  Big Tigers, man!

The Bank Job

Jason Stratham in 70's heist movie.  He rocks so maybe…

4/4/08

Nim's Island

Jody Foster directed and stars in this movie about a kid who creates a fantasy world. This one does look pretty good, and has Gerard Butler as an Indy-type.  But we're getting Indy this year, right?

4/18/08

The Forbidden Kingdom

This is a fantasy movie about a kid who goes to ancient China to free an emperor from evil opressors, but get this: It stars both Jet Li and Jacki Chan!

5/2/08

Iron Man

This will be the year that Robert Downey Jr. makes a big comeback… If he can stay out of Jail.  Looks like a great comic adaptation, and Favreau more than has the chops for it.

5/16/08

Prince Caspian (Narnia)

I only casually appreciated the first one, but thought the message was well done.  This one looks better!  More battle and stuff.  Will do the business that the other fantasy pix won't this year.  For 5 days anyway.

5/22/08

Indiana Jones

This has the propensity to be the biggest movie of all time.  The demand for this movie has been huge, and it looks great.  Skulls, UFO's and Marion!  Who doesn't love Dr. Jones?

5/30/08

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

It's another Apatow knockoff, with the hot Kristen Bell in the copilot chair.  It won't do any money, but it would be fun to watch if I wasn't already watching Indy again.

Starship Dave?

Mr. Murphy is invaded by aliens.  Sounds dumb, but the supporting cast might elevate it.  Will do no business, however.

6/13/08

Incredible Hulk

Always great Ed norton is Banner this time, and Ferigno is back partially as Hulk.  Everything looks killer.  This might do a bit of business, but I predict Indy will hang on strong and steal some of it's thunder.

6/20/08

Get Smart

Steve Carrell looks awesome in this, as does Alan Arkin and the Rock.  If it were any other time of the year it could make back it's money.

6/27/08

Wall-E

This movie will do fantastic, tapping into that other under 12 audience and little ones.  It looks great, too.  Could be pixar's secret weapon.

Wanted

This one looks good, kind of a Jumper type movie with some of the same cast!  I'm confused, which movie is this?  Stars the kid from Children of Dune and Last King of Scotland and Mrs. Jolie before she became a skeleton warrior.  Will bomb.

7/2/08

Hancock

This one looks great, but I don't know.  It could be a step back in the wrong direction for Will Smith if it's not handled right.  He's ruling in dramas and I am Legend, so we'll see

7/11/08

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

Hey it's a movie by DelToro about a demon from hell with the word Golden in the title that's decidedly less satanic than a christmas kids movie with kind of the same name.  Looks cool, but I predict it will wisely move to fall.

Tropic Thunder

Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr, Jack Black, Tom Cruise in a comedy about actors who have to go fight in a war for real.  The cast promises great things!  We'll See!

7/18/08

The Dark Knight

Do I even have to say anything?  This is the one that will steal Indy's Thunder.

7/25/08

X-Files 2

This could bomb or be huge.  I hope it's huge, I think the fans are ready to come back after the last two dreadful seasons.  Everything looks pretty good so far on it.

8/1/08

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Here's another franchise picture that might die this year.  It has a subplot involving a sidekick for a son that many will think was stolen from this year's Indy.  Jet Li is in it, though…  Not like box office gold or anything, but you know…

Doomsday

This movie will be slaughtered this year by the competition, but it looks awesome.  I'm hoping that audiences will want an original movie for once, but It's just not going to happen after Serenity and Stardust.  Rhona Mitra, Malcolm Mcdowell in an homage to Mad Max, Escape from NY, etc.  I will attend this one.

8/8/08

Eagle Eye

This is the same team behind Disturbia (DJ Caruso and Shia).  Add in Billy Bob, it could be a winner.  About a kid trying to stop a political assasination.  Shia's great, so we'll see!  Might do okay.

8/15/08

DragonBall

This one might be a sleeper hit, it's a live action version of an anime, has Spike from Buffy, Emma Rossum and Chow Yun Fat.  Kids like that anime stuff, aparently.

8/29/08

Babylon A.D.

High concept scifi actioner starring Vin Diesel.  I hope it's good, gotta love Vin.  Although Vin+SciFi has not had a great track record.  Here's hoping.

9/26/08

Death Race

Paul WS Anderson. Check.  Crappy movie to remake. Check.  Jason Stratham.  Check.  Joan Allen.  Check.  Me at the theater?  Check.  It might suck, but this remake has nowhere but up to go from the original anyway.

10/3/08

Valkyrie

Brian Singer is gay and loves Nazis.  Tom Cruise looks just like the Nazi he is portraying.  Has a great cast.  Brian Singer is gay and loves Nazis.  This one looks good, seriously.  And Singer is a fantastic director. (who is gay and loves Nazis)

10/10/08

Body of Lies

Ridley Scott and Russell Crow, this time throwing DiCaprio into the mix.  Switch from harlem to Middle East.  I love these guys, but please don't let me down like you did with American Gangster

City of Ember

Bill Murray is the mayor of a town that needs lights to survive, in this fantasy comedy adventure movie.  So far it looks kind of meh to me, but it does have Murray.

11/7/08

James Bond

The stakes are high because the last one is arguably one of the 5 best in the whole franchise.  Same writing team, same Bond.  Smells like a winner.

11/21/08

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Mr. Potter is box office gold.  The last one was pretty good, but I hear this one is great.  Getting close to the end.  An obvious hit.

11/26/08

Bolt

Think Galaxy Quest with a german shepherd who thinks he's a super hero with very original looking computer animation from Disney.  It was conceived by the guy that brought us Lilo and Stitch, one of the best new Disney movies ever.  This one should do gangbusters as something families can take their little ones to see.

Curious Case of Benjamin Button

About a guy who ages backwards.  Directed by David Fincher, starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.  In an already too crowded year, it must move, unless this is an oscar contender.

12/12/08

Day the Earth Stood Still

Hmmm… I don't know, the original was good, but there is some room for an update on this classic.  Stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connoley, directed by the Emily Rose guy.

12/19/08

Marley and Me

Jennifer Anniston + Owen Wilson + Cute Dog = Big Hit, and the novel is a best seller.

12/25/08

Star Trek

This is hopefully the Berman Killer.  The relauncher of the franchise.  Also, it has Nimoy as Spock, a great story, and a very odd cast.  This one could be the third or fourth biggest hit of the year, and I hope it is.  JJ Abrams is directing, with a script by those Transformer guys.
